Power of Desire - Getting Better Results!
.
by Tim Redmond - the Leadership and Wealth Creation Coach

Recently, I was in South America speaking to a group of business leaders on the subject of Goal Achieving (it is a much more effective results-based approach than Goal Setting).

I explained how we are innately wired for success, the power of focus and belief and many other essential steps and common pitfalls in Goal Achieving. The presentation was warmly received yet was not as interactive as I usually like it. What caused this resistance?

Achieving a goal begins with desire - a specific and "committed to" desire. As I thought about it, I realized that many of these people felt beaten down, disappointed and overwhelmed with the busyness of life. Ruled by the fear of failure, they didn't want to risk committing to a specific desire.

Is this just a problem for the people in South America? Perhaps we as leaders everywhere get so busy, so unfocused because of the myriad of issues we handle - feel overwhelmed - that life seems to rob us of heart- felt desire. No desire, no dream, no life-giving power in our lives.

My closest mentor is an expert in getting results with people. Though he didn't actually write any books on this subject, he has inspired thousands of authors around the world. His approach was simple yet so effective. Before he helped people, he asked the question,

"What do you want?"

Each of us should consider taking time to answer this question because desire (really knowing what you want) is the beginning point of great accomplishments. Desire so big and so clearly that your heart comes alive with a deep commitment to action.

Let's answer that question from our hearts and not our heads. We are NOT talking about desire that hurts or disrespects others - true wealth and success does NOT come at the expense of destroying others.

I've seen the "fire of desire" work with huge results in the life of my pastor, Billy Joe Daughtery. He has a laser-focused desire to meet the practical and spiritual needs of people in his church, city and throughout the world. Hope is being restored, creative ways of loving people are being invented and discovered, and thousands of people are being trained to release their greatness to help others.

What about you?

Give your heart permission to desire. It's one of the best ways to wake it up and get it active. This planet (especially those you influence) will be a better place because you did.
