Leaders: Does Rich = Poor?
.
by Tim Redmond - the Leadership and Wealth Creation Coach

Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God." As I recently walked the shores in Australia early one morning meditating on this scripture, a thought occurred to me:

What does it mean to be poor? It means we don't have enough to pay for what we really need. Jesus is letting us know that we'll never be able to "pay" our way into His kingdom - it has ALREADY been paid. Therefore, there is no longer the need to struggle - with trying to earn God's favor and blessings with our performance - doing things out of duty and in our own strength.

I was praying with some friends a few days ago - some of us were hearing the same word - in all we do - let there be no more striving. He wants us to walk in intimacy with Him, enjoying the kingdom of God - with our hearts full of peace, righteousness, and joy. Being full of God's kingdom gives us freedom, strength and clarity to do what we are called to be and do without being bound by the drudgery of duty or illusion of "earning" our way.

This truth may not change "what" we do, it simply changes the "why" - the reason - the purpose of living our lives and fulfilling our responsibilities. We do what we do FOR Him - trusting Him entirely with the outcome. His yoke is therefore easy, His burden is light. Being poor in spirit brings great rewards.

An early church father, St. Irenaeus said, "The glory of God is man fully alive." What care or mindset can you cast on Him to allow your heart to become "fully alive" - to live with more power and freedom?
